After 7 years on the throne, Ikono Paramount Ruler set for Coronation …Itoro Columba lauded for the initiative
After seven years on the throne without a formal recognition, Paramount Ruler of Ikono, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Nyong Udo Obop will be formally coronated on Friday, 8th September 2017.
At a pre-Coronation Press briefing on Monday to intimate the public on the event, the Central Planning Committee for the Formal Coronation of the Paramount Ruler confirmed that the coronation which is billed for Friday at the Council Grounds, Ibiaku Ntok Okpo will start by 10am.
Addressing the media, Chairman of the Planning Committee for the grand coronation and state PDP Legal Adviser, Obong (Bar) Goddy Umoh said the Paramount Ruler has been on the throne for years without a formal coronation until the Itoro Columba administration took the bull by the horns and decided to spearhead the formal coronation.
The State PDP Legal Adviser thanked the council boss for taking the bold step to set in motion modalities for the coronation of their revered monarch and poured encomiums on the Council Boss for restoring pride and dignity to the Royal Institution.
According to the Planning Committee, the event shall feature the conferment of chieftaincy titles and excellence awards on some prominent sons and daughters of the area.
Other members of the Central Planning Committee for the grand coronation present at the press briefing include former commissioner for finance, Sir S. U. Akpan, Akparawa Sylvester Akpan, a former Int’l President Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio and Fmr. Rector Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic and Eteidung Okon Ekpo, the Village Head of Mbiohoku Ikot Abasi.
